A collection of love stories
Welcome to my blog! Well…. I really like to think of it as a collection of short stories. The sweetest moments from those stories. The highlights.
Here I share small peeks into one chapter of the books I’ve been privileged to witness, capture and share with the world. I also have volumes of planning advice, a rolodex of fellow wedding vendors I love to work with and the occasional journal entry from my own personal diary, just so you can get a little insight into who I am as a human, a mom and a photographer. I hope you stay a while, find a story you can connect with, a character who makes you giggle and a happy ending that makes you shed a tear.

Mallory and Satbir's wedding weekend was a three-day affair with friends and family from all over the globe.
Their celebration started on Thursday with the jaggo, a Punjabi word meaning "wake up", where the maternal families of the bride and groom come together in a festive, colorful party of singing and dancing. Relatives of the couple take turns carrying the gagger.
On Friday everyone gathered back together for a haldi ceremony. This is when friends and family apply a paste of turmeric, sandalwood and rosewater to the couple's skin to purify and beautify them. It's safe to say that some of Satbir's family took full advantage of having permission to douse him in paste. The more paste, the more luck!! ;)
On Saturday was the main event, the baraat. It was a really early start to the morning but there was an electricity in the air that was palpable. Even the sunrise was GLORIOUS as I peeked out the windows of the hotel when I saw a pink glow seeping through a crack in the curtains. The bride and groom were adorned in traditional Indian wedding attire; the bride in red and the groom in white, and lots of jewelry and embellishments.
The baraat is when you would typically see the groom riding into his wedding on an elephant, or sometimes a horse. But we were downtown Columbus and the zoo was out of loaners ;) so Satbir made do with a hobby horse. But there was no shortage of fanfare. Satbir's family and friends were loud and boisterous as they led him into the temple to marry his beautiful bride.
Satbir and Mallory's ceremony was stunning and rich in tradition.
After the ceremony, the wedding party hopped in a limo and headed to Franklin Park Conservatory for formal photos. The green spaces were the perfect balance for the wedding party's colorful traditional wedding garb.
Following photos at Franklin Park, the wedding parties and family and friends disbanded and took a break for the day, to shower and dress in American wedding attire and the party reconvened at The Peak at Edison in Gahanna, for a traditional American wedding reception. DJ Ethan Rivera with Premier Entertainment was the host and emcee for the event (and is friends with the couple / who also referred the couple to me! <3 ) and it was the perfect ending to a wild, wonderful wedding weekend.
I am so grateful I got to be a witness to such a fun loving couple making their relationship "official", and that I got to meet all of their friends and families. It was an honor to be a part of this amazing weekend. <3
